I am going to give my first answer last so I do not get B****ed at.

The ability to delegate authority.
The ability to look at ones work without ego.
The ability to multitask.
Being able to learn and admit one's mistakes.
Cultivating a bulldog quality when you know you are right.

Ultimatly however I think it comes down to vision.

Tim Burton (and staff) with Batman for example.

In the early comics Batman drove like a Buick and the costumes in the TV series were to say the least laughable.
